Dental Care for the Penia Community

Penia is a small unincorporated community in Crisp County, a few miles east of Cordele. Families there are used to driving for most things, and dental care is no exception. Our office in Warner Robins is about an hour away, so we focus on treatment that is worth the trip and on care you can keep up at home between visits.

Getting Here from Penia

Most Penia patients head west toward Cordele and pick up I-75 north. Exit at Richard B. Russell Parkway in Warner Robins and continue east to 1295 Russell Parkway in Warner Robins. The drive is roughly 52 miles and takes about an hour without traffic. We see patients Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Gum Disease Care That Works Between Visits

Bleeding gums, bad breath that does not go away, and gums that feel tender or look puffy can all point to gum disease. It usually develops quietly, and the longer it goes untreated, the more it threatens the bone that holds your teeth. Our gum disease treatment starts with a careful exam and, where needed, a deep cleaning below the gumline.

For patients who live farther out, PerioProtect is especially useful. You get custom Perio Trays that hold a prescription gel against the gums for about 10 to 15 minutes a day at home. The trays reach pockets that brushing and rinsing miss. They do not replace professional cleanings, but they help keep inflammation down between them, which matters when your next visit means an hour on the road.

Our Solea laser can also treat gum tissue precisely, often with less bleeding and without the need for stitches.

When Teeth Need to Be Replaced

Advanced gum disease is one of the most common reasons adults lose teeth. If that has already happened, Dr. Curtis O. Hayslip, who holds a Mastership in Implant Surgery and is a Diplomate in Implantology, can talk you through dental implants, dental bridges and partial dentures. Cone beam CT imaging shows how much bone you have before any plan is set, so you know your options up front.

Keeping Visits Productive

Because every appointment means a round trip of about two hours, we try to make each one count. When it is safe to do so, we pair your cleaning with an exam, X-rays and any small fillings. Before you leave, we schedule your next visit. If something changes between visits, such as new bleeding or a sore spot on your gums, call or text us and our team can tell you whether it needs a visit right away or can wait.

Questions from Penia Patients

Do I have to come in often for PerioProtect?

Most of the work happens at home with your trays. We will set a schedule for professional cleanings and check-ins that fits your gum health and your travel.

How do I pay for treatment?

We walk through costs before treatment begins. We take cash, checks and major credit cards and work with CareCredit, Cherry and LendingClub Patient Solutions. See our patient resources for forms you can fill out before your first visit.
